Yakatabune is a Japanese style boat with a roof over it. It is one of Japan’s traditional cultures that comes with a long history, spanning over 1000 years. Yakatabune boats enjoy great popularity during the Edo period, when boats extravagantly decorated in gold and silver would traverse the rivers of Edo. Many a Edo samurai warrior or affluent people would feast aboard these boats to enjoy the four seasons, cherry blossoms or fireworks.
