Bon Odori

Bon Odori is a Japanese traditional dance in Obon or Bon Festival (Buddisht festival to honor the spirits of ancestors). Obon is held in every summer from August 13 to 16. This period is also called "Bon week". Japanese people believe that the spirits will come in the night, so Bon Odori is often held at night. Bon Odori is preformed by dancing in circle around the Yagura (scaffold made from wood) to welcome the spirits of ancestors.
